The original house, elegant but frail, was temporarily raised and supported while 50-foot piles were driven and concrete poured to form the new foundation. The original structure was completely rebuilt with state-of-the-art plumbing, heating and electrical systems. The design (by McBride & Associates Architects) takes full advantage of the panoramic views of the Hudson River and the Palisades by locating the living room, kitchen and dining room on the upper floor, with two 10-foot-wide custom door openings. The widow’s walk at the top of the tower opens the views to the north and south, while enclosing a wonderfully private office space.
